Sue Ellen Cowan - Landscape & Wildlife Artist

Sue Ellen Cowan

Living on an acreage near Grande Prairie, AB, Canada, has brought Sue Ellen Cowan into almost daily contact with wildlife, which has been an inspiration for her to create pieces that reflect the beauty of the natural world.

Although she loved to draw, she really didn't have much time for it while raising 4 children. Determined to pursue her passion, she courageously self-educated herself through correspondence. When her youngest started school, she decided to take the plunge and went to work as an accountant and eventually ran her own accounting business for several years.

She began her artistic journey after retiring. She started painting ceramic dragons and doing decorative painting around the house and on furniture. As her skills and enthusiasm for art grew, Sue Ellen decided to invest in some canvases and paints. After discovering her passion, She says “What a joy it was to express myself in paint!”

She has had several successful solo exhibitions in a local coffee house/art gallery and her paintings have been available for sale through a local framing studio gallery. Currently, she is a proud member of the Peace Region Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists (PRFCA) as well as the Beaverlodge Art Club.

She has been successfully juried into several shows, and her artwork is also available at the Beaverlodge Cultural Center Gallery.

For the most part, she paints landscapes and wildlife because she loves the natural world around her.

Sue Ellen is an artist dedicated to capturing the beauty of nature in her works of art. Her paintings reflect her appreciation for nature’s amazing array of colors, light and shadows. She says that this attraction compels her to paint more and she gets obsessed at times.

Visit her website to explore her portfolio and immerse yourself in her unique artistic vision.
